Shannon Taggart is an photo-based artist and author based in St. Paul, MN, USA. In a past life, she made pictures for printed publications such as TIME, Newsweek, New York Times Magazine, Discover, New York, Wall Street Journal, and Reader’s Digest. Her book Séance, named one of TIME Magazine’s ‘Best Photobooks of 2019’, has been featured by CNN Style, Bookforum, Washington Post, New York Times T Style Magazine, Lensculture, Le Monde, London Financial Times and The Paris Review. Her work has been exhibited internationally and recognized by Nikon, The Inge Morath Foundation + Magnum Photos, The Alexia Foundation for World Peace, and American Photography, among others. She has spoken on her work at venues worldwide including the Yale School of Art, Peabody-Essex Museum, The Gallery of Everything, Minneapolis Institute of Art, and Walker Art Center. She curates an annual Symposium in Lily Dale, NY, and is currently working on an illustrated book about The Society for Research on Rapport and Telekinesis (SORRAT), one of the strangest cases in the history of psychical research.
My project on Substack is an extension of Séance and the two books in progress that will complete it as a trilogy.
